We delighted to be writing to you to share the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection and to thank you for the continued support you show our school.

Our inspection took place on 6th and 7th January under Ofsted’s new and more rigorous inspection framework, introduced nationally this year. Under this framework, schools are no longer given an overall judgement. Instead, inspectors evaluate different aspects of the school against clear standards. Willow Farm Primary School is one of the first schools in our local area to be inspected under this new Framework, which makes the outcomes particularly meaningful.

Ofsted have released a short video explaining more about the new inspection framework and how reports are structured. Some families may find this helpful, and it can be viewed here:

Inspectors recognised many significant strengths across Willow Farm. They noted that pupils experience a ‘nurturing, joyful and highly inclusive education’, where children feel ‘safe, valued and understood as individuals.’ Pupils were seen to achieve well from their starting points, including pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those who are disadvantaged. Our inclusive ethos, strong relationships with families and effective use of support were recognised as key strengths.

We were particularly proud that:

  • Children behave well, show kindness and respect, and enjoy coming to school each day
  • Reading is a strength, with strong early foundations and very positive outcomes by the end of Year 6
  • Early Years was judged to be meeting a strong standard – an exceptional achievement given that our school-based nursery has only been open for one term
  • Leaders and governors were recognised as ambitious, reflective and committed to continual improvement
  • Safeguarding was confirmed as effective, with a strong culture where children feel safe and cared for

Inspectors also recognised the rich experiences we offer beyond the classroom, including leadership opportunities, outdoor learning, community events and the way our PRIDE values help pupils grow into confident, responsible and empathetic young people
